Sure, Firefox has some nice standard features, like tabs and what not, but the real fun is going and installing extensions, which are little features that people have written to improve the browsing experience. Five favorites of mine:
Very useful: Adblock -- this lets you set up filters to block out all sorts of ads on any and all pages, occasionally making for an odd-looking layout ("why does the text wrap around that empty space?"), but generally creating a much cleaner environment for reading and what not. Hotmail really is a bit nicer without scrolling & flashing ads above and to the right of messages.
Fairly useful: Weatherfox (now Forecastfox) -- puts a current temp/conditions indicator up in the menu bar or status bar, plus the forecast for the next 48 hours.
Could be useful, if near the kitchen: Egg On -- incorporates an egg timer (which can be set to hard, medium, or soft boiled) into the status bar and alerts you when the egg should be done.
Not useful, but funny: Delicious Delicacies -- replaces a proper definition of cookies ("small data files placed on your computer...") with "Cookies are delicious delicacies" in the privacy settings.
Not useful either, but pretty nerdy: I Must Not Fear -- see for yourself. I'll just say "Dune" is involved.
(Want to try it out? Go get Firefox.)
(And yes, I know I'm a dork.)
