I'd Rather Be Frying Bacon

My commuting music today was Ghostface Killah's Fishscale. Track 4, entitled "The Champ" is so f'ing good that I want to make mix tapes (or CDs) simply so I can include it on that mix.

And in other news, one of the homework problems for my geometry students was to think of 4 words that used "tri-" as a prefix. Multiple students used "Triforce" as one of their answers, possibly because I have made Zelda references in earlier classes.

Our most recent cocktail of choice is the Blackthorn. It is related to the Manhattan, though it uses Irish Whiskey as a base and used a dash of Ricard (or other absinthe substitute) to smooth out the drink.

The Blackthorn

• 2 oz. Irish whiskey
• 1 oz. sweet vermouth
• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• 4 or 5 drops of absinthe substitute

Stir with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Enjoy.
